Nigel Danvers is on the run! Two shadowy agents are on his tail, pursuing him across London to the grand train station at Liverpool Street. Nigel suspects that afternoon’s activities may be to blame...Travel with Nigel Danvers to an eerie seaside town on England's east coast. Learn to use advanced techniques used by real paranormal investigators, and uncover an ancient mystery and treasure. But, beware, not all of the towns residents will help in your mission, whether they are alive or dead. Inspiration from the haunting works of Charles Dickens, M.R. James, Arthur Conan Doyle, and E.F. Benson combines with real ghost-hunting gadgets to bring this frightening story to bone-chilling life. Success or failure in locating wandering spirits depends on your skill as an investigator. Placing motion detectors, night vision cameras, and temperature gauges correctly will reveal a location’s haunted past, and expose terrifying apparitions. With nerves of steel, and wits to match, you will soon discover long lost secrets, previously known only to the dead. [Got Game Entertainment]

Just Adventure
The Lost Crown stands head and shoulders above most of the adventure game offerings that have come our way over the last few years and frankly I was saddened when it finally ended.

Quandary
So... what's my final take on The Lost Crown then? More ambitious than Dark Fall, that's for sure. And quite a bit longer. Scariest thing I've played in a long time, maybe even since Realms of the Haunting.

Game Chronicles
All in all I was fairly impressed with The Lost Crown. A deep story and a disturbingly creepy score put this title high on my list of creepy adventure titles and of adventure titles in general.

Cheat Code Central
The Lost Crown has a great, creepy atmosphere, and the presentation is one of a kind. Dark shadows, spectral figures, near constant mist, and chilling sounds are bound to give most folks an uneasy feeling about playing the game at night in a dimly lit room.

Atmosphere. Jonathan Boakes is a master at creating atmosphere. With lovely yet creepy visual settings, a story with secrets and ghosts, spine-tingling ambient sounds, The Lost Crown presents a tale sure to attract and basically please most adventure game players. But is a spooky atmosphere enough?

IGN
A game of wildly varying inconsistencies. It's got an interesting, lengthy plot, conventional but ultimately well-designed puzzles, and a great atmosphere thanks to its black-and-white art style, use of real world photos as backdrops, and solid, often unearthly sound effects and tracks.

The Lost Crown: A Ghost-hunting Adventure is a good adventure game, but too many conventional elements and low production values keep it from being a great one.

Adventure Gamers
Ultimately, it’s the setting of The Lost Crown, between the brilliant sound design and the superb art direction, that will give you the most pleasure, and a great deal of praise for these elements is due the game’s creator, Jonathan Boakes.

PC Gamer
Between the scares, your interactions with living characters are hampered by poor voice acting, an inability to skip conversations, and constant dialogue sync issues. [June 2008, p.71]

Game Over Online
I think the game would have been much better off concentrating on two or three well developed ghost stories rather than the dozen or so passably interesting ones that are in the game now.

Martin M. gave it a2:
One horrible adventure gone bad.... can't really say about the graphics, apparently the programmer doesn't want to spend time to FIX the simplest graphic problem. 1. there is no way in game to change the aspect ratio, therefore playing this game in widescreen is next to impossible to enjoy. 2. in-game character's movement looks like they are moonwalking. 3. no vsync 4. can't change in game resolution stuck in 1024x768 game play is just point and click. it is just bad.... avoid at all cost.... even if it is free....

Jeff T. gave it a10:
This Is the most brilliant game! No wonder Just Adventure gave it an A+
