(Currently available in the UK/EU only) The new instalment of the AGON adventure-saga takes place in the dawn of the 20th century in the time-honoured and historical Spanish town of Toledo. Once ruled by Romans and Visigoths, Toledo has a rich history, making it the ideal setting for the story of Professor Samuel Hunt and his intriguing adventure to discover the legendary "Sword of Toledo". The Professor arrives in the picturesque Spanish city, where time seems to pass by more slowly. Becoming aware of strange goings-on about him, Professor Hunt is involved in the search to find the mysterious "Sword of Toledo", which has been considered lost for many years. Thus, a new adventure starts for the British Professor..." [Kalypso Media]

Overall I enjoyed playing Agon, but there isn’t a lot of replayability to the game. Once you’ve solved the mystery and the puzzles they’re solved and the answers don’t change on a second go around.

All fans of the point and click style will undoubtly have much fun with Agon: The Lost Sword of Toledo. The game consists of nice puzzles and a good scenario. It simply feels very traditional. The casual gamer will probably be scared away because the game is somewhat static. The developer could have put more effort in the personalities of the characters, but nevertheless we have a good feeling for this game.

Having said all that, the complaints shouldn't obscure the fact that The Lost Sword of Toledo is still a solid entry that should appeal to AGON fans and puzzle adventure enthusiasts who may have passed over the series to this point.

PC Format
A snooze-fest of epic proportions, delivered in amateurish and, most offensively, unskippable monologues by uninspiring characters. [May 2008, p.113]

The problem with Agon: The Lost Sword of Toledo is that it's an adventure game that starts off slowly and never seems to pick up any pace.

Agon suffers from a serious identity crysis – it's uncertain if it's a game or a book. The mix of the two turns out dull, slow, unable to please fans from one or the other.

That's what playing Agon is like: getting fingered by a tree. [May 2008, p.77]

Insufferable nonsense that people insist on liking. Stop it. [June 2008, p.85]
