Mario's archrival Wario is the same money-mad rascal who has starred in some of the greatest hand-held platformers of all time. This time around, a tale about a golden pyramid is enough to send the big blowhard scurrying off to the nearest jungle. Sure enough he finds the joint, but before he can collect his booty he'll have to undergo a brain- and body-bending series of challenges. [Nintendo]

Graphically the game looks fantastic. The game is insanely colorful and the sprites are well animated.

Wario rocks -- there's a lot of variety in the game design and is more challenging than the usual side-scrolling fare due to its focus on making players figure out how to get to certain locations in the level.

At the conclusion of some of the levels there are awesome mini-games...Homerun in Wario is awesome--it tests your baseball skills as much as your platform gaming skills!

Boasting fantastic graphics and awesome transparency effects for water and fog, Wario Land 4 pushes the GBA to its visual limits.

An incredibly entertaining, diverse, and humorous addition to the Mario/Wario legacy. It's challenging and creative, but not as outright frustrating as "Warioland 3."

These mini-games are one of the only things about Wario Land 4 that I didn’t like. In a nutshell, they're repetitive and don’t give enough money. Plus, the mini-games are limited in their fun factor.

It's still the best original platformer on GBA, mind. Stitch that Mario! Waaaaaaa! [GamesMaster Magazine]

There’s a lot in Warioland to wow you but, at the end of the day, it’s just a GBC adventure with nice graphics. Which is REAL daylight robbery.

One slight drawback is that without a light for your GBA some of the levels are quite dark and the action further down the line can be somewhat repetitive even with the new challenges the game dishes out for you.

Be warned however that this game will not take too long to complete and is a tad easy.

It's polished variety paired with a mishmash of moves, which makes Wario Land 4 fun through and through. [Nov 2001, p.144]

Gamestyle
One of Gamestyle's favourite original platform games on the GBA. In some ways the deviation from the vanilla "run and jump" template makes it more enjoyable than the Mario Advance series, and we heartily recommend the title to anyone who enjoys a good platform game but wants something a little different from the established norm.

The game was awesome and the sprites were very well done. I liked the controls - they were easy to follow. The music was breath-taking. The music captured every moment, I wish I could download some!

McTbo gave it a10:
Great f....ing game. Find it used or cheap on ebay... I play it over Halo 2 sometimes. DS screen makes it even better.

Brody O. gave it a 4:
It gets very boring VERY FAST!

Frank K. gave it an 8:
A real surprise package this. Great graphics and gameplay but replayability is not one of its strong points. The best feature however is collecting the cds scattered around its levels. These contain trippy tunes that can be played on an in-game jukebox, accompanied by a mini music video. Brill
